Lies

this is another one of those pictures that just sparked me off into though. Why do we feel the need to compulsively lie? I do it, I know several people at least who do it. We have a constant need to exaggerate points we want to get across. I think we as humans need to be more honest and open to each other, stop being offended by peoples opionions and instead find out what they truthfully think and act upon it. The world would go arround so much faster. What lies have you told today? I told someone I had no money. I had £5 but I needed it and instead of telling my friend that I lied. Why?

  1. I'll be the first to admit I had a bad habit of exaggerating or just plain making up stuff. I've got it under control as an adult but as a kid and teenager it was crazy. I know I did it because I had to seem more interesting than I really was.

  2. I'll lie to relive the awkardness of the situation. But only harmless lies.

  9. i lie too, it sometimes is more effective communication than the truth

  10. Sometimes when talking, you can't remember all the things you've done, so your words may not be entirely truthful.

Eg. Someone asks you if you've ever eaten sushi. You say no, and continue talking. Later on, you remember that you went to a sushi buffet when you were 6 years old. Would that be considered lying?

Or someone else asked you how are you, and you say you're fine when actually you had a horrible day. Is that lying, or perhaps you don't feel comfortable talking about your day with someone you may not know so well.

Now if it is something very important and you fully know in your mind that something is true or not, and you purposely do not tell the truth, then in my opinion that would be a lie.

  11. The problem? Lying is far too easy. I hate that I'm talking for experience, but it's true.

I'm not going to pretend I'm any different, we all do it.

  17. I'd have to argue that lying is a necessary social norm, but that you should try not to lie to friends and family.

  18. I can usually spot a liar from a mile away. It's not hard to see how people change when they lie. But I let them get away with it and just let it go. Some people just dont want to hurt other people's feelings.

  22. Yeah, it's pretty bad. I think our society is so built around lies that we can't help but do it without noticing.
